Gamma-Ray and Neutrino Signals from Accretion Disk Coronae of Active Galactic Nuclei

چکیده

To explain X-ray spectra of active galactic nuclei (AGN), non-thermal activity in AGN coronae such as pair cascade models has been extensively discussed the past literature. Although and gamma-ray observations 1990s disfavored models, recent millimeter-wave nearby Seyferts establish existence weak coronal activity. Besides, IceCube collaboration reported NGC 1068, a Seyfert, hottest spot their 10-yr survey. These pieces evidence are enough to investigate perspective depth again. This article summarizes our current observational understandings describes how generate high-energy particles. We also provide ways test corona model with radio, X-ray, MeV gamma-ray, neutrino observations.

Two-temperature coronae in active galactic nuclei

We show that coronal magnetic dissipation in thin active sheets that sandwich standard thin accretion disks in active galactic nuclei may account for canonical electron temperatures of a few ×10K if protons acquire most of the dissipated energy. Coulomb collisions transfer energy from the ions to the electrons, which subsequently cool rapidly by inverse-Compton scattering. In equilibrium, the p...

Gamma–Ray Emission from Active Galactic Nuclei – an Overview

Gamma-ray emission from AGN provides us with unprecedented insights into the physics of extragalactic jets. The emission from these jets fits naturally into the existing theoretical framework of relativistic jets as inferred from parsec scale and kiloparsec scale observations. Models of the γ-ray fluxes give us important knowledge of jet parameters, in particular magnetic fields and the size of...

Accretion Flows in X–Ray Binaries and Active Galactic Nuclei

Hard X–ray emission is ubiquitous in accreting black holes, both in Galactic binary systems and in Active Galactic Nuclei. I review the different spectra which can be seen from these systems, and possible ways of producing this emission. X–ray reflection should give an observational test of these scenarios, but we need better models before this can give an unambiguous diagnostic of the accretio...

Scaling of Black Hole Accretion Discs from Gamma-Ray Bursts and Black Hole X-Ray Binaries to Active Galactic Nuclei

I consider how physical processes scale over eight orders of magnitude in black hole mass, from stellar masses in gamma-ray bursts (GRB) and black-hole X-ray binaries (BHXRB) to supermassive active galactic nuclei (AGN). Accretion rates onto stellar mass black holes range over more than sixteen orders of magnitude, from the lower luminosity BHXRB to GRB. These enormous parameter ranges correspo...

Gamma Ray Bursts and Radio Loud Active Galactic Nuclei

We believe that the radiation we receive from Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) and radio loud Active Galacti Nuclei (AGNs) originates from the transformation of bulk relativistic motion into random energy. Mechanisms to produce, collimate and accelerates the jets in these sources are uncertain, and it may be fruitful to compare the characteristics of both class of sources in search of enlightening simil...
